Connect your tools: API, MCP and webhooks
Updated October 24, 2026
Ranknera can work with the other tools you use. All of it is set up under Settings › Integrations in the dashboard, in three tabs. The full technical reference for developers is at ranknera.com/developers.
API keys
A key lets a script, Zapier or your own website use your Ranknera account. When you make one you choose exactly what it may do, for example only read articles, or add keywords too. Some permissions carry a "sensitive" marker because they publish to your site, delete things or use your monthly allowance.
- The key is shown once. Copy it into the tool that needs it straight away. If you lose it, make a new one.
- Test keys (they start with
rn_test_) work on a separate example account. Nothing they do reaches WordPress or uses your allowance, so they are safe for trying things out. - Rotate gives you a new key and keeps the old one working for a while (24 hours unless you choose otherwise), so you can swap it without downtime. Revoke stops a key at once.
- A key can never do more than your plan allows. On the free plan keys can only read.
AI assistants (MCP)
Assistants such as Claude and ChatGPT can work with your keywords and articles. Add Ranknera as a connector with the address https://api.ranknera.com/mcp; the MCP tab shows the exact steps for each assistant. When it connects you see what it is asking to do, in plain words, and you tick only what you want. Before an assistant publishes, deletes or writes a new article it has to show what it will do first.
Connected assistants are listed on the MCP tab. Disconnect stops one immediately.
Webhooks
A webhook sends a message to your own system when something happens, for example when an article is published or waits for your review. Add one with the address that should receive it and the events you care about. Webhooks are part of the Pro and Autopilot plans.
- Send test event checks your address is ready.
- Deliveries shows each attempt from the last 30 days, and lets you send a failed one again within 7 days.
- If every delivery fails for 5 days, Ranknera turns the webhook off and emails you. Fix the address, then turn it on again.
