What keyword statuses mean

Updated October 23, 2026

Every keyword in the queue shows where it is. These are the words the dashboard and the phone app use.

The statuses

Pending
Waiting its turn. Write it now, or let Autopilot or a schedule pick it up.
Running
Ranknera is researching, writing, scoring or revising it. A run usually takes a few minutes; the card shows how long it has been going.
Needs review
The article is written but didn't pass the quality check, or Ranknera couldn't read enough of the pages that rank for the keyword to be sure. It is held in Ranknera and not in WordPress. Read it, then approve it or leave it. See Review, approve and publish.
Not saved
The article is written but WordPress didn't accept it, usually a connection problem. Fix the site, then use Publish again; it doesn't count as another article.
Failed
Something went wrong before the article was finished. Try again; if it fails twice, contact us.
Published
Saved to your WordPress, as a draft or live, depending on how it was run. Drafts wait for you to publish them in WordPress.
Skipped
Ranknera already wrote about this keyword for this site, or the same keyword was already running.
Over budget
New articles are paused because Ranknera's monthly spending limit was reached. They start again next month; contact us if you didn't expect this.

What needs you

Home lists everything that needs you (Needs review, Not saved and Failed) at the top, and the phone app sends an alert when one appears, unless you've muted it.

Still stuck? Email [email protected] and say which site and keyword it's about.
