Performance and Google Search Console

Updated October 23, 2026

An article that ranks today can slip next month as competitors update theirs. With Google Search Console connected, Ranknera notices and refreshes the article.

Connect Search Console

  1. Your site must be verified in Google Search Console, with a Google account you can sign in to.
  2. In the dashboard, open Performance and choose Connect with Google.
  3. Sign in with that Google account and allow Ranknera to view Search Console data. It is read-only: Ranknera can't change anything in Search Console.
  4. Back in Ranknera, pick the property that is this site. The one matching your site's address is highlighted.

Each site connects on its own, so different sites can use different Google accounts. The Sites page and the phone app show which sites are connected.

What the checks look at

Once a week, Ranknera reads each published article's average position, clicks, impressions and click-through rate over the last 30 days. An article is flagged when it has clearly slipped: for example, it dropped three or more places, or lost about a fifth of its clicks. Pages Search Console has no data for yet are left alone; nothing is guessed.

What a refresh does

Ranknera researches the keyword again, finds what the pages now ranking cover that yours doesn't, and updates the article in WordPress. The article keeps its address and stays live. At most five articles are refreshed in one weekly check, the ones that matter most first. Each refresh shows under Performance.

If Google stops sharing data

If you change your Google password, remove Ranknera's access, or lose access to the property, the site shows Reconnect needed and the phone app sends an alert. Choose Reconnect and sign in again.

Your data

Ranknera uses Search Console data only to show how your articles perform and to decide what to refresh. Choose Disconnect to delete the stored sign-in; you can also remove access at myaccount.google.com/permissions. The privacy policy has the details.
