Plan topics and find competitor gaps

Updated October 23, 2026

Two tools under Keywords find what to write next, so you don't have to. Both are part of the Autopilot plan, and both use real search data.

Add your competitors first

In Sites → Competitors, add the domains you compete with in search, or choose Suggest to see the sites that most often outrank you for your keywords. You add them once; Plan topics, Competitor gaps and Autopilot all use them. Turn on the weekly watch for a competitor and Ranknera emails you when it starts ranking for new keywords.

Plan topics

Give it a topic you want to own. Ranknera groups the searches around it into clusters (a main article and the supporting articles around it) and ranks them by opportunity: how many people search and how hard they are to rank for. Keywords you already cover are left out. Add a cluster to your queue in one go, all at once or a few a day.

Competitor gaps

Lists keywords your competitors rank for that your site doesn't, with how often they're searched. These are searches people already make where you have nothing to show. Add the ones that fit your site to the queue.

If a list comes back empty

You may already cover the topic, or your competitors may rank for nothing you're missing. Competitor gaps also needs at least one competitor saved.

With Autopilot

When fewer keywords are waiting than you set, Autopilot refills the queue from your competitor gaps first, then from searches related to your existing keywords.

Still stuck? Email [email protected] and say which site and keyword it's about.
